Semester 2 week 6
lectures: Procedures for planning and building regs.
Crit: Didnt not go well, which is unsurprising considering the little amount of design work i had. like most others i had invested more time in the research for tech work.
All i presented was my initial experiments in 3dsmax, so precedent and a few sketched images. Not really enough. Need to balance the tech work and design work.

Semester 2 week 5
lecture: financial appraisal: value of commercial property.
this lecture seemed fairly pointless. the lecturer thought there wasn't really enough time to give understanding of the subject matter and had an attitude to reflect this. some basics of relevant financial terms were conveyed fairly well but the equations that related to them were only skimmed over even though they were the majority of the lecture content. Over all the lecture was made fairly useless.
Design work: A few sketch ideas, was informed since it was what i said i was interested in i should approach all my ideas on CAD so i invested alot of time refreshing my autoCAD and3dsmax skills.
Also a fair amount of tech research happened. unfortunately the nature of what they want for submission means it is hard to come by so takes more time than i had expected.
Critical study result : 60. B.

Letters And CV's also professionals in the uk construction industry.
Some fairly good information and advice on CV writing but mainly on how to contact/ apply for jobs. Rest of the lecture just seemed to be reading the list. with a little explanation on each.
Design: presented a few sketch ideas, mainly spent time researching my ideas and precedent in trying to form some sort of brief or design basis for the scheme.

During the lunch hour, see "2 1/2 Drawing" at the Vernon Street premises of Leeds College of Art and Design. Opposite O2Academy. Think about the different ways in which drawing may be defined: the sun draws shadows; the sun draws by fading and weathering the paint on buildings. People draw, unwittingly, by walking on snow or eroding concrete, stone or grass.
Steven Morant has to give an AC1.2 Lecture at about 2.45pm. Simon North's plans are uncertain.

semester 2 week 3
Lecture: A brief introduction to law for architects
Whilst i can see the point in this lecture as a stepping stone into the required law, in its current state and content it was almost entirely useless. The subject matter had to be far to broad and much to watered down for us to understand it. without any follow up lectures this lecture seemed entirely pointless. this seemed fairly apparent to everyone, including the lecturer. However it must be said, i would not appreciate any further lectures that cover more detail because they would be even more dull than this one was.
In short, hire someone else to do this for you.
Design: Missed thursdays tutorial because i was feeling ill, which meant i didnt not get to present my work on hayes davidson.

On Thursday 11.02.10, in the studio, it is intended that each of the groupmembers should give a 5 minute powerpoint talk on the architectural draughtsman whom he or she has been studying. It is also intended to check progress on the tasks, related to the Addendum "Preparations" which individuals and groups agreed to undertake. Semster 2 week 2
Tuesday:

in a summary the lecture was just pointing at the CABE guide and saying 'use that'
everything else seemed to contradict itself.
Portfolio Review:
Was hideously under-prepared thanks to how the last semester has ended.
only good point was the planometric.
- Text was too small
- section was unclear how it was drawn, cad/ hand drawn and was extremely poor quality.
- images of models were cropped poorly.
- no development images were there
- colouring on maps was poor, should be more consistent and have less line strokes.
- a few of the drawings in the development work should be used as development images.
- Photographs of all models that were built would be best for development images.
