Semester 2 week 9

Tuesday lecture Regan : The architects office.

This weeks Crit:

Result really is that everything needs redoing
-the layout doesn't work at all.
-exterior geometry doesnt work
- not drawing the existing site accurately nor the surrounding building facades.
Todo:
-redo layout to fill layout along briggate, Decide on some measure of geometry for the exterior. Draw accurately the existing facades on briggate. redraw the siteplan.

a lot of time this week was invested in the research for the technology submission,

Simon Warren lecture: example of design and access statement.

Design work: invested many hours in learning and experimenting with 3dmax so not as much usable work as i'd hoped for.

discovered as part of design research.

Semester 2 week 6

lectures: Procedures for planning and building regs.

Crit: Didnt not go well, which is unsurprising considering the little amount of design work i had. like most others i had invested more time in the research for tech work.
All i presented was my initial experiments in 3dsmax, so precedent and a few sketched images. Not really enough. Need to balance the tech work and design work.

Dear students

See below message from Keith Andrews:

In the preparation of your AT3.2 part one submissions could you ensure that not only is the basic research undertaken and documented, (to address the issues in the brief pertaining to , geology, evolution of synergy, solar, wind load, and water), but could you interpret it , outlining it’s significance in informing your design approach.

Regards

Keith Andrews
